Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with Community Fruit Rescue! We look forward to meeting you. By volunteering with Community Fruit Rescue, you are agreeing to the Terms of Participation & Release Agreement.
First, register to volunteer Everyone who attends a harvest must first be registered as a volunteer. Once you are registered, you are eligible to sign up for harvests, and you don't have to register again. Sign up for a harvest Open harvests are posted on the Harvest Calendar page. To sign up, click on the harvest link in the calendar, review the information about that harvest that appears under the calendar, click the sign up button, and then type in your name on the signup page. You must type it exactly as you did when you first registered, so we can match your record in our database. You must read and check off the Terms of Participation & Release Agreement to be added to the roster. Then click on the button that says 'Signup for this harvest.' Often times we add last minute harvests to the schedule, so be sure to check the Harvest Calendar regularly and sign up for our email list! Please cancel if you can't make it! If your schedule changes, please cancel so someone else can take your spot. The email you receive when you sign up will include a link where you can cancel. Your courtesy will also help us schedule the right number of volunteers for the available produce. When you arrive to the harvest site When you arrive, look for the sandwich board sign that will point you in the right direction. When everyone has arrived, We'll provide a brief orientation with helpful tips, information about the property and how to harvest. What to bring Bring water to drink, and please take care of any bathroom needs before arriving. At some harvest sites, a restroom may be available, but not always. Also bring with you a bag, box or container to take home your portion of the fruit! What to wear Come prepared for the weather! Sunscreen and a hat are useful on sunny days and raincoats are helpful if a rain shower comes through. Who to contact with other questions Please check out the Contact and FAQ pages. New This Season: Food Drives at Every Harvest
Community Fruit Rescue is expanding the impact of our harvests with a new ongoing initiative: food drives at every harvest. With recent changes to federal funding for food assistance programs like SNAP, many of our neighbors are facing heightened food insecurity. To help, we’re inviting tree stewards and volunteers to bring non-perishable food items to each harvest. It’s easy to get involved—just bring along one or more shelf-stable items such as canned goods, boxed goods, or other non-perishables, and we'll take it from there.
CFR's Harvest Leaders will record the donated items by weight and type, and each week all collected goods will be directed to a featured beneficiary partner—such as Community Food Share, Harvest of Hope Pantry, and others—alongside the freshly rescued fruit. Together, we can turn every harvest into an even bigger act of community care.

Apply to be a Harvest Leader!

Become a Harvest Leader volunteer during our August-November harvest season and make a difference in the most delicious way possible!
At Community Fruit Rescue, we’re on a mission to save fresh, local fruit from going to waste and make a positive impact in our community. As a Harvest Leader, you’ll be at the forefront of this movement, leading a team of passionate volunteers on fruit-picking adventures to rescue surplus fruits and nurture a culture of sustainability. By joining this dedicated team, you’ll get hands-on experience in coordinating fruitful harvests, working with local tree stewards and volunteers, and fostering a sense of community through these residential fruit rescues. Together, we’ll transform Boulder’s abundance of fruit into nourishment for those in need, reducing food waste, promoting food security, minimizing conflicts with local black bears, and helping to build resilient communities. Interested in helping out but can’t be a Harvest Leader?
We have lots of other opportunities to get involved! Don’t hesitate to reach out to [email protected]. |

Whether you're chatting with folks about our mission, handing out apples or cider samples, or helping set up our booth, you're playing a key role in growing our community and reaching new supporters.
This is a great opportunity for outgoing folks who love talking to people, believe in local food systems, or want to support our work in a fun, social setting. No experience needed—just bring your enthusiasm, and we’ll provide everything you need! Event Crew roles typically involve:
