MISSION
From tree care to fruit share, Community Fruit Rescue empowers Boulder communities to reduce food waste, increase equitable access to locally grown fruit, minimize wildlife conflicts, and foster healthy and productive fruit trees.
VISION
Our vision is a community united in strength, health, resilience, and justice, where a vibrant urban tree canopy thrives, supported by knowledgeable stewards. Here, everyone enjoys access to healthy, local food, food waste is dramatically reduced, and humans and wildlife coexist in balance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The purpose of the Board of Directors is to support the mission and vision of Community Fruit Rescue (CFR), while also providing leadership, governance and direction to the organization. Board members also support the work of CFR by serving on Board Committees (for example: fundraising & grant writing, marketing, harvest season logistics, accounting, volunteer management, and more) as needed and contributing to ongoing fundraising efforts. Specifically, board members are expected to:
TERM & COMMITMENT
Board members serve a 3-year term and are eligible for reappointment for sequential terms. Board meetings are typically held on a monthly or as-needed basis and last approximately 2 hours. Board members should expect to serve at least 5 hours per month working on behalf of the organization. Board members must make an annual financial donation of an amount that is significant to them. Serving on the Community Fruit Rescue (CFR) Board of Directors is a volunteer position: No financial compensation is provided.

- Organized over 645 harvests
- Engaged nearly 1,800 volunteers who have contributed thousands of hours of work

RESPONSIBILITIES
The purpose of the Board of Directors is to support the mission and vision of Community Fruit Rescue (CFR), while also providing leadership, governance and direction to the organization. Board members also support the work of CFR by serving on Board Committees (for example: fundraising & grant writing, marketing, harvest season logistics, accounting, volunteer management, and more) as needed and contributing to ongoing fundraising efforts. Specifically, board members are expected to:
- Be familiar with CFR’s mission, vision, programs, and finances.
- Support fundraising and outreach efforts both during and outside the harvest season.
- Participate in committees and projects as needed both during and outside the harvest season.
- Participate in at least one harvest each year.
- Attend meetings and actively support board and committee objectives. Board members are expected to virtually or physically attend 10 (out of 12) meetings per year, barring extreme circumstances, and are expected to inform other board members and staff in advance of any meeting that they will miss.
- Review the meeting agenda and any supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.
- (optional) Host meetings at their home to help foster community amongst members of the board.
- Familiarize themselves with the organization's financial reports.
- Ensure that the organization meets all of its legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
