Fruit Tree Care 101:
Year-Round Care for Healthy Trees
Join Community Fruit Rescue at the Erie Library for an introductory class on caring for your backyard fruit trees throughout the year!
Led by fruit tree care expert Eric Johnson of Widespread Malus, who is also launching a native plant nursery called Bouteloua, this presentation will cover seasonal care practices to help your trees stay healthy, productive, and thriving for years to come.
Designed for beginners, the class will walk through the essentials of fruit tree care in each season, including pruning, watering, pest management, and other ways to support tree health. We’ll also touch on differences in caring for pome fruits, such as apples and pears, and stone fruits, such as peaches, plums, and cherries.
Learn how to care for your fruit trees so they continue to produce delicious fruit while contributing to the health and resilience of our urban tree canopy. The presentation will last approximately one hour, followed by time for questions.
