2026 INTERNSHIPS
Harvest Intern
The Harvest Intern (HI) will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of CFR’s harvest season by providing on-the-ground support. The role is focused on hands-on tasks such as volunteer support and management, leading fruit harvest events, transporting fruit donations to beneficiary sites, assisting with harvest logistics and data management, and filling in gaps where needed. Working closely with the Harvest & Programs Coordinator (HPC), the HI will help keep the harvests running smoothly by assisting with equipment management and handling various logistical tasks as they arise. This fast-paced, flexible position will require a proactive attitude and a hands-on approach. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, outdoor work and is passionate about food rescue, wildlife coexistence, and urban agriculture.
Marketing & Outreach Intern
The Marketing & Outreach Intern (MOI) plays a key role in promoting Community Fruit Rescue’s mission and engaging the broader community through social media management, marketing, graphic design, content creation, and outreach, while also serving as a Harvest Leader and helping organize and oversee fruit harvest events. Working closely with CFR’s Executive Director and Harvest & Programs Coordinator, the MOI supports consistent, mission-aligned communications that expand CFR’s reach and impact. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, a creative and detail-oriented approach to storytelling, experience managing social media for an organization, and a solid understanding of visual branding and graphic design tools. In addition to marketing responsibilities, the MOI represents CFR at local events, assists with volunteer recruitment, maintains CFR’s online presence, and gains hands-on experience leading harvests and engaging directly with community members.
Operations Intern
The Operations Intern (OI) supports Community Fruit Rescue’s Harvest & Programs Coordinator and Executive Director, playing a vital role in coordinating harvest operations and volunteer programs across Boulder County. The OI assists with planning and executing shared fruit harvests from start to finish, including scheduling events, managing volunteer sign-ups, tracking harvest data, and supporting fruit distribution to community partners. Working closely with tree stewards, volunteers, and partner organizations, this role offers hands-on experience in the logistics that make CFR’s harvest program successful, along with mentorship and insight into nonprofit operations and community-based food systems. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and strongly aligned with CFR’s mission to reduce food waste, increase access to fresh fruit, and foster positive coexistence with black bears.
Summer Program Support Volunteer
The Summer Program Support Volunteer assists Community Fruit Rescue in the lead-up to harvest season by helping prepare materials, equipment, and systems so everything is ready when harvesting begins in early August. This flexible role includes a mix of in-person and light administrative support and is ideal for a high school or college student, or anyone new to community-based volunteer work, who is interested in food justice, sustainability, and positive coexistence with urban wildlife. It’s also a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours while gaining hands-on experience with a local nonprofit.
