Building a stronger, healthier community
At Community Fruit Rescue, we believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, local fruit—and that by coming together, we can create a more resilient and caring community. Our programs are designed to connect people, reduce food waste, and share the abundance of Boulder County’s fruit trees with those who need it most.
As a woman-led organization, we are passionate about creating spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can learn new skills, build meaningful connections, and make a difference. Whether you’re harvesting fruit, attending a workshop, or leading a project, we want you to feel welcomed, valued, and empowered.

How we support our community
Expanding Access
We work to ensure that fresh, locally harvested fruit reaches food-insecure communities by strengthening partnerships with a wide range of community organizations. Welcoming Volunteer Opportunities We strive to make our harvests and workshops accessible to all by reducing barriers to participation, beginning to offer bilingual materials, and providing financial assistance for paid events and services. Sharing Knowledge & Skills From fruit preservation classes to tree care workshops, we offer hands-on learning opportunities that celebrate local food and empower community members. Community Leadership & Collaboration As a woman-led organization, we focus on creating pathways for women and girls in food justice, land stewardship, and leadership roles. We also seek partnerships with local community-centered organizations to amplify diverse voices and share knowledge. Fruit Harvests for All We offer free and fun fruit harvest opportunities open to everyone. There’s no cost or barrier to participation, and volunteers are welcome to take home a share of the harvest—creating an accessible alternative to traditional u-pick orchards. Anyone can request a harvest with CFR, regardless of their personal situation, and financial assistance is available for those who need it. Ongoing Learning & Growth We are committed to continuous learning, feedback, and adaptation to ensure our programs meet the evolving needs of our community. |
Land Acknowledgment
Community Fruit Rescue acknowledges that we operate throughout Boulder County on the ancestral homelands of the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Ute peoples. We recognize that these lands were stewarded by Indigenous communities for generations before being forcibly taken. Today, we honor their history, resilience, and ongoing presence by working to foster a food system rooted in sustainability, respect, and community care.
We recognize that food justice is deeply connected to land justice. As we harvest and share the abundance of fruit trees across Boulder County, we remain committed to learning from and uplifting Indigenous perspectives on land stewardship, sustainability, and ecological harmony.
We encourage our community to reflect on our shared responsibility to this land and to seek ways to support Indigenous voices and initiatives locally and beyond.
